Kelly Womer Spong, APR, ABC, Fellow PRSA, helps organizations strengthen their business performance from the inside out through effective employee and leadership communications. Kelly counsels leaders on how to improve their business communications skills, and she uses qualitative and quantitative research to analyze what’s working and what could be better when it comes to communications with various audiences.

With experience working for major corporations and public relations firms, she has also developed and led internal and external campaigns, including major product launches, organizational change initiatives and ongoing reputation-building programs. Of note, Kelly worked in-house at McDonald’s Corporation, managing communications for global operations leaders. She has held ownership and leadership roles at several PR firms, where she guided various consumer and B2B client accounts and implemented award-winning employee engagement and client relationship management programs.

A former journalist and stickler for AP style, Kelly is also an accomplished writer and storyteller who can translate complex business issues and topics into compelling, clear messages for any medium and audience.

Kelly actively serves her profession and other practitioners. She has held national and local leadership roles for the Public Relations Society of America, including President of the PRSA Chicago chapter and chair of the national PRSA Honors & Awards Committee which oversees the prestigious Silver and Bronze Anvil Awards. As a national PR award winner and long-time senior awards judge, Kelly is also a go-to industry award writer and coach who develops or refines winning entries for other organizations.

Kelly received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications-Print Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) and was inducted into the PRSA College of Fellows, an honorary organization comprised of more than 350 leading practitioners and educators, each of whom has left a significant footprint on the public relations profession.

Kelly lives in a Chicago suburb with her husband, Keith. Her personal passions are global adventure travel, high-altitude trekking, physical fitness and wellness, and animal welfare.
